Love, anyone?

I believe in love. I even believe in that once-in-a-lifetime kind of love, the transforming, purifying and elevating love, the one that was meant to be.

I am not saying that it rarely happens; on the contrary, I am sure it happens more often than we’d dare to imagine. But without commitment on both sides, true love does not stand much chance.

True love can be right and it can be wrong. Maybe the only difference between the two lies in synchronicity, in how close or how far we’ve come on our respective paths, as that synchronicity sets the pace for relationship. The right love harmonizes us and puts us in tune with our needs, pushing us forward, making us grow. The wrong one creates a state of disequilibrium, hopelessness, and in the long run, stagnation.

It’s hard to find someone who is easy to love, and when we do it is even harder to tell where they are on their path, as love makes everyone seem close to each other. But for those of us who believe we are here to grow, moving forward is the imperative, and committing to the wrong person can be a huge setback. I’ve learned that much.
